PROJECT DESCRIPTION::
The proposed development includes three buildings, access roadways, parking areas, storm water management areas, retaining structures and site utilities. The proposed buildings include a 5-story independent living apartment building with a below grade parking garage, a 4 story memory care building and a single-story commons building.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Baystate Blasting was contracted to perform drilling and blasting services for the whole site. Work included drilling and blasting over 73,400 cubic yards of open rock and over 9000 cubic yards of trench. Constraints included working within lower than state standard limits on PPV levels due to a MWRA water pipeline running through the site. Also, blasting occurred close to I-93, which precipitated closing the highway for those blasts.
