Scope of Work:
Contracted to perform all drilling and blasting services for new 507,500ft2 distribution building and associated 3,243,000ft2 parking lot. Entire site sits on over 200-acres of land.Drilling & Blasting Scope:Work included drilling and blasting over 210,000 cubic yards of combined open rock and trench rock to accommodate distribution building, parking lots, drainage, utilities, structures, and footings.
Location: Middletown, CT
Challenges: Specification limited ground vibrations to 0.50-inches per second at nearby commercial building and live transmission gas main due to their sensitivity. Entire site within close proximity to many residential and commercial buildings and surrounded (in some cases occupied) by live utilities.Large site with many other tradespeople.
Schedule: One of the first trades on site. Drilling and blasting work needed to be completed prior to concrete pour resulting in an expedited schedule.Drilling and blasting scope completed on schedule.
