Scope of Work:
Contracted to perform all drilling and blasting services for installation of new quarter mile long access road and three (overhead wire) construction pads. Project involved blasting over 35,000 cubic yards of open rock to accommodate the installation of such structures.
Location: Litchfield, MA
Challenges: Entire site consisted of steep terrain which sloped towards an existing trellis tower carrying live overhead wires.With average rock cuts of 23-feet and at a distance (in some cases) of 30-feet, ground vibration at existing trellis could not exceed 2.0-inch per second.Project took place during winter months which enhanced already difficult working conditions.
Schedule: Expedited project schedule due to planned power outages. Project completed on schedule.
